Don Heights is one of the smaller of 41 member congregations associated with the Canadian Unitarian Council (CUC.CA), of which two also emphasize their connection to Universalism. There are no Biblical Unitarian congregations in Canada, although there are in the USA.

Our vision: Don Heights is a resilient, welcoming community of diverse individuals, promoting love, reason and freedom in religion, fostering lifelong spiritual growth and acting for social justice and the environment. We exist to honour and appreciate human differences in all aspects, and in particular differences of age, culture, race, socio-economic levels, sexual orientation and ability.

We are non-creedal: there is no requirement to believe in God or Jesus, although many Unitarians do, and many are agnostic or atheist, or with backgrounds in other religions. We do not practice communion or eucharist. The words “God” and “Jesus” are infrequently heard. We try to conduct ourselves according to our eight principles. Our Sunday services generally feature a speaker on a wide range of topics but generally related to social justice, community and spirituality; traditionally we have a Q&A session with most speakers. We are a “welcoming” congregation, inclusive of race, colour or sexual orientation. Don Heights is lay-led, although we frequently have Unitarian and occasionally other ministers as speakers. The emphasis is on social action, and we give a substantial percentage of our income to community charities including support for refugees and women’s shelters.
